Carmen V. McMillan Memorial Scholarship for Intercultural Studies

Carmen V. McMillan, the seventeen-year-old daughter of Tennessee-based Southeast Financial employee, Jack McMillan and Ana Basoa-McMillian, passed away unexpectedly in July of 2019. Carmen was strong in her faith and truly loved people. If she could help someone less fortunate, she would do so. It didn’t matter who you were, where you came from, or if you shared her faith. She loved you just the same.

Carmen was a committed student and academically was at the top of her class. She served on both the swim and tennis teams, was an active member of HOSA, the Collegiate Academy, and the Best Buddies program for mentally challenged youth. After graduation she planned to attend Biola University to pursue a degree in Intercultural Studies. Her goal was to become a missionary and develop cutting-edge agricultural technology to help feed the hungry in both body and soul.

Southeast Financial Credit Union is proud to present this scholarship to a student who shares in Carmen’s goal of academic excellence and her dedication to making the world a better place.
